We haven't had any veg (unless you count the salad in subways and burgers for a little while!!!)...
Byron Bay seems quite nice so far... a little bit hippyish....

Pit stop at Coffs Harbour!
Gday,
Well were here in Coffs Harbour... We left Port Macquarie yesterday afternoon at 1.30 and we got here at 4.30....
They say that your best laid plans are meant to change... Tony (the guy who owned the hostel in Port Macquarie) asked us where we were staying next.... When we said Barricuda Backpackers... he said...
"ah no mate you don't wanna do that"...
To cut a long story short he had heard some horror stories about a guy who worked there... he didn't elaborate too much, but it didn't take too much imagination to work out what he was going on about"..
Anyways, with Lee not too keen on staying there and Lucy definately not going to stay there, we made some calls and got a room at the YHA in Coffs...
To say we've landed at the 5 star of hostels is an understatement... Double Room with an Ensuite and a small tv..... oooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Sounds sad but you definately appreciate things when you've been without them for a week (putting on your hiking gear to go for a pee in the night isn't much fun!!!)...
We headed out for an explore.. and found a nice little cafe to get some food last night called Hog's Breath... Just chilled out the rest of the night....
The alarm went at 4.30AM this morning as Lee had set it to get up and watch the footy.. (KNOB!!)...
After the footy had finished back to sleep and got up at 10am had shower and brekky then went for a walk to the harbour....
Not much there lots of water and yachts!!!! but we had a walk along the sea shore and at the end was a big hill and yes there was a footpath so Lee being Lee sauid lets walk to the top it wasnt that high but still bad enough... we walked up it and the views from the top were fantastic and walking down was fun it was more like running.....
After that we felt hungry so decided to walk back to the hostels and got a sandwich at the supermarket... at a local shop we found a poster about a dolphin and seal life centre somwhere near by so we ask at the hostel reception desk were able to buy tickets there and find out where it was which wasnt far at all...
walked there just in time for the afternoon show at 1pm it was great fun really pleased we caught the show... we have photos which we will get on the blog soon....
we then headed back to hostel for something else to eat and then went to an internet cafe to post on the blog and here we are !!!!
Lots of love

Gday from Port Macquarie
Hey Folks,
Bit late in this post as we couldn't get to the tinternet last night...
It's 9am in the morning (so you'll all be tucked up in bed!!!)... We're leaving at lunchtime today to go to Coffs Harbour....
Back to yesterday... we had quite a chilled one to be honest...
After talking to other travellers and thinking about all the stops we've got on the East Coast we've totally ripped up our plan and started all over again.. we've now got much shorter time up the East Coast and after that we have no plan and that's half the fun!!!!
The new Plan
From Coffs Harbour we leave on the 1st may....
Bryon Bay 1/5/09 until 6/05/09
Brisbane 6/05/09 until 9/05/09
Hervey Bay 9/05/09 until 12/05/09
Rockhampton 12/05/09 until 14/05/09
Airlie Beach 14/05/09 until 16/05/09
Townsville 16/05/09 until 18/05/09
Carins 18/05/09 until 21/05/09
And then the 21st onwards there is no plan we will at some point end up in Melbourne but when and how is yet to be decided also most of the changes we have cancelling they are all hostels so more hotel/motel YEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of Love

We're in Port Macquarie!!!!
Gday..
We're here safe and sound in Port Macquarie....
We had to leave the hostel early this morning... Just when Lee thought he was getting to grips with the lingo a conversation with a bus driver this morning indicates just how far he's still got to go..
Lee: "Excuse me mate, I know your bus says Sydney on the front but are you by any chance going to Port Macqaurie??"
Bus Driver (Don't know his name but we'll call him Bruce!!): "Gday mate, nah she'll be along in a jiffer and she'll have Brisso as the desto!!!..."
Loosely translated "Hello mate, that bus won't be along for while yet, when it arrives you'll know it's the right one cos it'll have Brisbane as the final destination"
Is all true we kid you not...
We left Newcastle at 9.30 this morning and we got in at 1.30pm... (including a nice 40 minute stop on the way for food)... We stepped off the bus wondering how we were going to find the hostel when the owner had come to meet everyone off the bus... SO we checked in... It's a nice little place and much smaller than the last one!!
We went out and about for a wander.... We went down by the river, past the beach and just generally got familiar with our surroundings (including a stop off in the local pub....)....
Lee thought he'd found a good bookshop and said "I wanna look at the sport and travel books".. turns out it was a bit of a Jesus bookshop (apologies if we've offended anyone reading!!!!)... Trust him to find the only one in Aus!!!!
We're got a few bits and pieces planned for tomorrow.. and we head on to Coffs Harbour on Wednesday for a couple of days...
We've also changed round our accomadation plans a bit.. We've decided we can't hack 7 weeks back to back hostels as Lee misses the TV too much.. hahahahahahahahahaha...
We can't get Wi-Fi here so as with Sydney we will post pics as soon as we can...
Lots of love

Wine !!!!! mmmmmmm
Day 3 and our last day in Newcastle before we depart for adventures East..... Sleep was plentiful last night and the hostel was nice and quite (unlike the night before!!!!)....
We were heading off to Hunter Valley today..... Weather has been good (check out the blue sky in the pics below)...
We got picked up at 9am outside the hostel by our tour guide Tex.... It was a right little United Nations tour (2 Brits, 1 German, 3 Swedes and a couple of mental Canadians!!!).... Tex (no idea if that was his real name!!!) was a complete nutter!!!
It took us about an hour to drive to the Hunter Valley... It was blowing a force 9 gale outside so was very windy....
The Hunter Valley has about 150 Vineyards in it so is massive.... First stop we went to a Vineyard called Drayton's which is apparently one of the oldes in the Hunter Valley (though most of them were that!!!).... Several wine tastings (whites, reds and Liqeurs!!!!) we were ready to move on to Vineyard 2 and it was only 11am!!!!! hehehehehehehehehehehe
Vineyard 2 bought the same drill really.. though she seemed to rush us through the wines really quickly!!!! Not good if you're drinking on an empty stomach... Here we tried cheeses as well... 8 in all.. at least 2 of them smelt like a pair of Lee's socks and Lucy drew the line at Blue Cheese.. Lee tries a little bit and then decided the mould on it was just wrong!!!! ONTO VINEYARD NUMBER 3....
This was a very small family owned one and several tastings later we were ready for lunch..... We went to a place called Oscars.. Lee had a burger called the works and it was.... Beef, Pineapple, salad, cheese, bacon, beetroot... you name it, it was in it!!!! Lucy had Chicken and Chips....
We then had a look around the Chocolate Fudge shop and British Lolly Shop..... Lunch over we headed to a deli type place where we could taste olives, chutneys, sauces, relishes, e.t.c. true to form Lee sampled the Garlic Olives and a sauce called "RING OF FIRE".. I kid you not.... and without going into too much detail his mouth was on fire and Lucy was keeping her distance from smelly breath!!!!
Before the final 2 vineyards a bit of banter broke out between Tex and the 2 Canadians over which country had the strongest beers.. It turns out Canada won though one of the Swedish blokes chipped in with some good wisdom about American beers...
"American Beers and making love in a canoe are both very similar... Fucking close to water!!!!"
Vineyard number 4 brought much the same as the others... 7 wines to taste.. wish we could tell the difference between them all but we couldn't...
The last vineyard was more of a liquer tasting session.... Strawberry, rasperry, butterscotch and the tasting finished with the group each downing a small shot of chilli liqeur all together on the count of 3... safe to say it left a bit of an afterburn....
Hunter Valley over we headed back to the hostel (with Lee sleeping most of the way!!!)... we leave at 9.30am tomorrow for a 4 hour trip to Port Macquarie.... Looking forward to moving on....
lots of love
lucy and lee

Our First Really Boring Day!!!!
Gday everyone!!!!
Day 2 in Newcastle... Well sleep was a bit hit and miss last night!!!!!!! still we were up and about by about 10am this morning... It's Anzac Day (something to do with remembering the Australian soldiers who died during the war) today so alot of places are shut.... Still it was a bit strange being awoken by at 5am by loads and loads of people walking past the hostel going to a rememberance service...
It's really nice weather today (the best since Sydney!!!) so we headed down to the beach for a wander around and some coffee... there was some cracking waves down there... the pictures we've posted just don't really do it justice....
We also hired some bikes out and cycled along the coastal trail and up a couple of big hills... (pics below)...
We've come to the conclusion that Lee and Thongs (just remember that Aussie for Flip Flops) don't get on very well as he has nearly buggered over at least half a dozen times today causing Lucy to laugh at him!!!!!
We're off to the Hunter Valley tomorrow on a wine and cheese tasting tour.... It'll probably all taste the same to us!!!!!!!
Lots of Love
Lucy and Lee

the day didnt go without some excitment of course when the Beard's are about something funny always happens well firstly the internet cafe is massive has two floors and a little cafe downstairs so some people just come to have coffee and chill with there friends but in this case we were sitting upstairs shouting at the laptop for taking so long when a man came walking our way sat down on the table behind us and OMG then the smell followed when you know me mum (shirley) i nearly threw up it was bad BO smell me and lee just looked at each other and said someone needs a shower !!!!! we then after about 10 mins decided we may have a medical condition but still it was horrible so away we had to carry on as we really wanted to get all the photos on the blog before we moved on as they would build up and up the smell did go after a while either that or we became immune to it !!!!
The next thing that happen was after about 5 hours lee kept belly aching for a cup of tea but neither of us could be arsed to walk downstairs and get them after awhile i (lucy) gave in lee wanted a large tea and i had a medium coffee and also i treated us to a ginger bread man or treated me more than lee well anyway walking up the stairs i got to the last one and tripped !!!!!! luckily only spilt a little of lees tea but thank god i didnt go over so many people there all lee was worried about his tea !!!!!! true love (not really) !!!!
OK lee is telling me to stop babbling sorry just seem to have a lot to say !!! anyway last night we went out for a curry after we got there we realise it was also a take away so thats what we did ordered our meal as a take away lee went to the wine shop and got a bottle and we went back to the hotel the funny thing is there was a certain football match being replayed on he telly it started as soon as we got back to the hotel how strange !!!!! i didnt mind really !!!!

PS - Lee's phone is broke.. the SIM card is broke.. after spending an hour on the phone to the muppets in the call centre and explaining at least 5 times that

b) I didn't want to transfer the contract to a relative
c) I don't have a pet that can use a phone (ok this point is out of sarcasm!!!)
They finally agreed to cancel the contract (and the twat on the other end of the phone had the cheek to tell me to calm down when I told him I was going to lose my rag with him for asking me the same fu***g questions 20 times!!!!)....
Sooooooooooo........ Mum, Dad, Tom or Chris if you need to contact me by phone then please use Lucy's Mobi Number!!!!
