Sunday March 4
Today it was Lucy's birthday yey!!! 32 years young and as a treat we had an early alarm call at 6am!!!! Today we were heading towards Wanaka.... Usual chaos getting on the bus as it was full and everyone wants a seat!!! So we left on timeish 45 MINUTES LATE!!! and we even left some people behind... Bus was overbooked, not good but at least it wasn't us!!!
In the morning we stopped at Lake Mathieson (the reflection lake) and got some really nice pics (we had been there before).. After lunch and before we got dropped off at our hostels we stopped off at puzzle world which was really cool. Basically there are lots of illusions and strange rooms.. including one were it sloped... which was mental!!! (see pics below).. Then wedid the great maze, which we completed!! We only cheated on getting out through an emergency exit as we needed to get on thebus to leave...
Finally got to the hostel about 5.45 and checked in... We thought we had a private room, turns out we didn't really so we booked into doubles deluxes... ahh the luxury, own kitchen, bathroom and TV...
Quick change and we went out for dinner at a placed called the Ale House which was nice and we started out with a glass of champers...
Afterwards we went to the MINT bar for a quiz which was a laugh....
Monday March 5
A lie in yey and we didn't have to leave until 8.30am.. Lucy spoke to her mum on Skype this morning which was nice and we bundled onto the bus and set off for Queenstown.. OR SO WE THOUGHT!!!
We got an hour or so down the track and the bus broke down on a bend!!! Not good... The police arrived to control traffic and a couple of other buses took us to the AJ HAckett Bungy site where some people were doing a bungy jump (Lee didn't have the bottle!!!)...
We finally got picked up about 2pm... SOAP (Coach Captain) did not look happy!!! We drove the short distance into town and then checked into our hostel.. we are staying at the YHA Lakefront, right across the road from Lake Wikapetu.. Bit of a randon room situation in that we have triple bunk beds (double and single) but we have a little balcony and are just across the road from the lake so lovely views...
Tomorrow we are going wine tasting in the centre of Queenstown... Should be fun!!!
Tuesday March 6
A lie in today as we had no bus to pick up yey.. and we didn't get up until 9am and out of the hostel until about 10.30am by the time we had got dressed and had breakfast...
We went and had a walk around town and the shops and had a coffee... At lunchtime we were
booked in for some wine tasting in town.. Basically they gave you a pre-paid card and you put it into a machine and got a taste, half a glass or a full glass of wine.. there were over 80 to choose
from and we also ordered a deluxe cheese platter to go with it.. all very civilised..
not too much planned for this evening just gonna chill out at the hostel.. We leave for Dunedin (New Zealand's Edinburgh!!) tomorrow where we are staying in an apartment in the hostel for 3 days.. should be awesome!!!
