New York and Washington

Hello there,
Sorry we haven't blogged for a few days but we have been a little bit busy!!
Can I just start off by apologising to Jane but it was actually Lucy that wrote the comment about there being lots of older people on the tour!! In any case she was wrong it's more like 30 years though there are a few younger ones on as well... It's great when the coach stops we don't get up for at least 3 minutes to allow time for everyone else to get off the coach

So we last left you in New York when we were heading out on our city tour.. we all got on the bus about 8am.. Our tour guide was called Mark, and we were taken around all of the main sites.. alot of them we had seen as we went to New York a couple of years ago, however there has now been loads more building work done at ground zero (see below).

After the tour we went back to the hotel, got some lunch and the we went for a walk around Times Square..

In the evening we went to a paddy bar for tea, stopped off at another pub on near Broadway and then went to the Majestic Theatre to watch Phantom of the Opera.. the show was great, unfortunately we couldn't get any pics though..

The next morning we had to be up and ready for 6.30am so the porters could collect our bags and take them to the coach, would have rather done it myself so we could have had extra time in bed...

We finally got going about 8am and headed out of New York.. we stopped at Philadelphia on the way for a couple of hours and finally got to the hotel about 5.30pm.. As we got stuck in a lot of traffic on the way in we only had 45 mins to get changed before we headed out for the evening.. We went to a restaurant called pier 47 and had a 4 course meal and then we went on a tour of DC at night..

We went to the Kennedy Performing Arts Centre, National Monument and the world war 2 memorial... We finally crashed about 11pm both tired as we are finding it difficult to get the jetlag out of our system..

This morning we were back on the coach for 8am and had a DC tour by day.. we went to the Arlington War Memorial (saw JF Kennedy grave), the Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Abraham Lincoln war memorial, the white house and capital point.. lots of pics below!!
This afternoon we decided to just stay in and around the hotel and chill out... Tomorrow we are off to Niagra Falls.. Can't wait.

Lots of Love
Lee and Lucy xx

PS - The weather so far has been fab, really really hot!!
