We left there about 11.30, had some lunch and then the rest of the day was really driving until we got to Chicago.. We got there about 4pm and went on a city tour.. It was quire eerie as there was loads of mist and fog over Lake Michigan so you couldn’t see much (see pics and vids below).. We saw some of the sites and then checked into our hotel, the red roof inn..
The next day we had a bit of a lie in and left the hotel to go on a cruise of Lake Michigan about 10.30am.. It was hot hot hot yesterday, 110 degrees in the afternoon, pretty much the whole of the states is going through a heat wave at the moment.. the cruise was fab and we got lots of good pics.. the skyline in Chicago is amazing..
In the afternoon we just chilled out as it was too hot to do much.. In the evening we went out for a group meal at a restaurant called Carson’s.. OMG we have never seen so much food in our lives!! See the pics below, we even got our own bibs to wear!!! After dinner we went up the top of the Willis (formerly known as Sears) Tower.. got some good pics from up top and Lee went out on the glass edge..
We left Chicago at 7.30am this morning.. We had a bit of a visitor this morning, a cockroach in the room, Lucy was not impressed so much I couldn’t eat my breakfast, the thing that really pissed me off was that other people have complained about cockroaches in their rooms on previous cosmos tours yet the company still book this hotel I don’t think the review is going to be a good one this time!!!!good job we were checking out.. We complained to reception as did the person in front of us as well not sure they even cared really..
Sad to leave, Chicago has definitely been the favorite place so far… We were heading for Minneapolis… We stopped off on the way at Wisconsin Dells for lunch and a ride on a duck vessel.. Basically it’s a vehicle that will go on both land and water it lasted for about an hour the tour guide was funny lots of jokes the only problem with too many jokes is that when he was being serious about something we didn’t believe him..
Got to the hotel and done laundry tonight, the hotel is brilliant.. .. Tomorrow we are off on a city tour in the morning and the Mall of America (biggest shopping mall in the USA) in the afternoon.. good for Lucy and bad for Lee’s wallet, lol!!! Lucy isnt that happy the tour guide is only giving us 4 hours to get round the whole mall he may be disappointed when half the ladies on the coach don’t return after the 4 hours!!! Tomorrow we are off for an evening dinner cruise the Mississippi paddle boat on the yes you guessed it the Mississippi river!!!!! Should be fun..
Lots of love
Lee and Lucy xx

Hi Lee and Lucy,
ReplyDeleteJust been catching up on your week. Amazing how much you are fitting in. Some great photos, standing at the top of the Sears Tower looked a bit scary? There are some lovely photos of the two of you together. Am going to ask Dad to print some of them up, so we can put them in frames. Weather sounds great unlike the weather here. Love you lots, take care, stay safe and have fun, Mum, Dad, Tom and Chris xxxx
