Lee’s 21st, The Grand Canyon & Oh Yeah We Are in Vegas!!!

Hello peeps,

We are in Viva Las Vegas!!!! Got here about 2 hours ago, staying at the Tropicana.. It was raining as we came in but it has cleared up now!! Couple of Las Vegas pics below but first back to yesterday and Grand Canyon.

There is another long blog below as well so read that if you haven’t already!!!

So after a cordon bleu microwave steak meal and a bottle of vino on Friday night Lee woke up Saturday to the depressing reality that he is now 21!! Another early start (what else) of 6.30am (we got up later when we were working) and the bags were outside the door by 7am ready to be loaded onto the coach for 8am. First stop after about 90 minutes was Zion National Park.. Flipping hell it was good, the scenery was tops and we saw some wildlife..

You could have got the shuttle to the top but we decided to walk along one of the trails.. So there we were happily trundling along when we saw a snake on the path.. (see video below).. then we saw a Lizard on a rock… When we came back from the trail to go to the gift shop we saw a humming bird sitting on the path.. Lee got close to take some pictures and when he walked away it flew onto his side and stayed there for about a minute.. (see video and pic below)..

A couple of people thought that it was Lee’s bird..I corrected them by pointing to Lucy and saying she is my bird (Lucy has given me permission to put that on lol!!!) Next stop was a town called Kanab for a “Chuck Wagon Style Dinner”.. First we all got dressed up and made a mini western (just for laughs).. (see below) and then we had a buffet lunch.. it was bloody lovely we had slow cooked brisket of beef, potatoes, salad and beans… After a look around the gift shop we were then off to Grand Canyon National Park..

We had another (and final) time change when we got there.. We are now on Pacific Central Time (8 hours behind the UK).. We are staying in the Grand Canyon National Park in cabins.. Literally 30 seconds from our cabin and you can see the Grand Canyon.. There are lots of chipmunks near the cabin as well…

We got our bags, had a coffee and then went on a short trail walk on the Grand Canyon.. Bloody hell the scenery takes your breath away.. not sure that the pictures and vids below do it justice but we tried.. In the evening we had a meal at the lodge restaurant to celebrate Lee’s 30th (I mean 21st!!!).. The cabins we were staying in were quite rustic (see pic below)!! In the night we had a thunderstorm and a couple of people in the group said the rain was coming into the cabins hehehehe!!!! This morning we went for one last look at the Canyon about 7am before we left at 8am!!!!

Lots of Love
Lee and Lucy xxxx

You Know When You've Been Mormaned!!!

Hello peeps,

Ok so first lesson learnt when Scott the tour director explains the extra nights out in different places is always good to LISTEN last night was well to be honest words cannot describe, we left our hotel at 6pm drove about 10 mins to meet the sisters which are young women who are mormons they took us to where we were having dinner as soon as we saw the sisters we got the giggles well not we as in me and lee but me and some of the girls on the trip, the sisters seem to have big smiles on their faces all the time once we started laughing that’s it the whole 2 and half hours spent here was giggling.

The food wasn’t bad but no great either, we had a tour of the Temple Square which is their main area in the city where the temples and music halls are, they tried to convert us they gave us cards to fill out with our name and addresses so they could send someone around our houses when we get home and talk to us and help us find our way I don’t think anyone on the tour filled one out although there was a few of us thinking of people we don’t like much and putting them down !!!!

We didn’t.. As we were leaving the temple gardens to go to the concert hall to hear the choir we passed a guy outside the area shouting and protesting against the Mormons basically saying they are a bunch of weirdo’s!!! it was funny to be in the middle of it !!!! At least we went out for the evening but it’s not really our thing we are not religious people and it was well weird really…
After that we returned back to the hotel Lee found some beer sold in the garage next to the hotel which was welled needed he tried to get me a glass of wine from the bar in the hotel but they don’t let you take them to your room that’s the rules not impressed but hey..

Early start this morning no surprise there 8am on the coach on the way to Cedar city. After a few hours on the coach we stopped at a place called Ruby’s Inn for lunch which is near the Bryce Canyon National Park.. We had a group picture taken and then we had lunch.. After lunch we went into the National Park.. OMG the views were spectacular, see the pics and videos below..
We had a couple of walks around and photo stops and then went back to Ruby’s Inn to buy the group picture from earlier as a souvenir.. Staying in Cedar City tomorrow, only for 1 night and then we are off to the Grand Canyon…

On the way we are stopping off at Zion National park in the morning and then having a “Chuck Wagon” (Wild Wild West) themed lunch.. yeeeee haaaaaahhhhh!!!!!
Can’t believe how quick the time has gone we will be home in a week!!!

Lots of Love

Yellowstone Day 2 !!!!

Hello peeps!!!!!

OMG we saw 2 grizzly bears yesterday but more of that later!!

So yesterday (Wednesday) we had a second full day exploring Yellowstone. We got brekky included in this hotel so we got some and left at 8am.. First we stopped at some geothermal pools which stank!! Then we stopped to watch an eruption (see pics and vids below).. It was pretty cool even though we had to wait an hour or so for it..

After that we headed to a small town called Jackson-Hole for lunch.,. It seemed like a proper cowboy town and we went to a bar called “Million Dollar Cow Boy” to have a burger for lunch… Lucy had a cheeseburger and Lee had an Elk (kinda like a deer) burger..

After lunch we headed back towards Yellowstone and did a couple of stop offs on the way.. Whilst we had had seen some wildlife at Yellowstone we didn’t see any bears.. So on the way back to the hotel they dropped us off at the “Grizzly Bear and Wolf Discovery Centre”.. We saw some wolves and more importantly we saw some bears.. 2 grizzlies called Sam and Lillie.. They were cool, lots of good pics and vids below..

After that we grabbed some tea and crashed.. We are travelling to Salt Lake City, Utah today.. which has a big morman population… I don’t know a great deal about the mormans but we are going out for a group meal tonight and we have been told we can’t get any coffee or alcohol in the town which is a drag cos they are 2 of our favourite things, lol.. and that morman men can have lots of wives!!!

We have just go to the hotel, it’s called the Red Lion, it’s bloody nice… just gonna chill for a couple of hours before we head out…

We are only here for one night, then we are off to Cedar and for Lee’s 21st we will be staying overlooking the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.. Then we are off to a small place called Las Vegas on Sunday.. Lucy is just a little bit excited!!!

Lots of Love
