We have just arrived in Salzburg, Austria and it's 5.20pm local time.... so back to where our last blog finished, Sunday and our last night in Rome... we met up for dinner with some of the others from the last group as this was the last night we would all be in the same place.. There were 12 of us that met up at Termini and walked around until we found a local restaurant.
When we got in we ordered a bottle of house red wine and it was fizzy.. we complained but he was admant that is just the way it was. We told him he was talking crap and ordered another bottle of wine.. the rest of the meal was nice, we both had half a roast chicken..
Cos they are working on the Metro it stops running at 9pm on Sundays and town was 10 stops from out hotel so we headed onto an Irish bar for a few drinks and then walked down to the Trevi Fountain to see it at night and get some pics of us all (see below). We then tried to get the night bus but it didn't work out so we just hailed a couple of cabs and got back to the hotel abut 1am.
Next day we had to be up and out by 7.30am for Venice... On the way we had a few breaks and finally got to Venice about 3.30pm.. We were actually staying in a suburb about 20 mins drive away from Venice called Mestre.. about 5pm we all met in the lobby and drove down to pick up our waterboat across to Venice...
When we got there we went across and did a half hour Gondola ride with 6 of us and had a bottle of wine.. There is only one word to desrcibe Venice beautiful.. not sure the pictures below do it justice (we will try and get some more up at another point).. after the ride we all went had dinner and then had a walk round St Marks Square.. at 9pm we got another boat back to our hotel.. boat back was full of a Contiki group (think stupid loud yanks and you're there).. we were bith tired so we just crashed..
Next day we went back over to Venice and had a glass blowing demonstration and then just spent the day getting lost (very easy to do there!!)..
In the evening we just chilled out and went for a bite to eat at an Aussie bar (was getting a bit sick of the pasta and pizza)... The food was shite.. This morning we skipped breakfast (there not so good in Italy..
We left about 9am and got here about 3.30pm.. Lee did what he normally does when we get to a new place and find the local supermarket and stocked up on the important supplies (beer and wine)..
We're off out in an hour or so for a group meal in the centre of Salzburg..
