The Last Few Days

Bonjour.. sorry we haven't done a decent blog post for a while.. still having problems getting pics and videos up so they will have to follow.. Anyways the last few days;

Barcelona – 2 – 4 June 2011

So last Thursday night we went out for a group meal in Barcelona.. Our hotel was right by a metro station so we caught the metro into Liceu which is right in the middle of "La Ramblas" the main tourist strip in Barcelona, which is about 1.5km long...

We had warnings about the number of pickpockets in Barcelona so made sure we carrued very little on us.. We went for a pre dinner drink at an Irish Bar and then went to a Tapas restauarant for a group tapas meal.. it was nice we got 5 or 6 things to share amongst each table of 6 and we got 2 jugs of Sangria and 1 jug of beer for the table as well..

We didn't leave the meal until about 11.30, some people stayed out a bit later and we caught the Metro back to the hotel with a few days.

Saturday we had some brekky and then met everyone in the hotel foyer at 10am as we were heading into town to do a Barcelona Bike Ride Tour with a company called Fat Tire.. There were about 12 of us on the tour.. (should have been more but some of the group were out until about 4am so had hangovers!!!)... We met out tour leader called Buddha.. (an Aussie).. The Bike tour was ace, had so much fun... saw some of the sites... played with traffic (NOT IN THE WAY THAT KEITH DOES!!! - see pics below)...

We finished up by the beach for lunch.. we then went back to the hotel... In the evening we came back into town and had a bite to eat and a couple of drinks at the Irish pub..
On Sunday morning we went to the Nou Camp (Barcelona's stadium) and did the tour... it was actually very good... We got loads of good pics...

We then caught the Metro back to town and had a bit to eat.. we then went to the Barcelona History museum and saw the Roman Ruins of Barcelona.. was kinda interesting, but really we learnt 2 key things;
1) They liked to drink a lot of wine
2) They washed their clothes in piss!!

After that we went shopping for shirt for our Monaco night out for Lee... We headed back to the hotel had a quick shower and change and then headed back into town to ewatch the England game at the Irish Bar.. then we grabbed some food (dirty KFC) and had a walk down La Ramblas to the port.... We had a walk round and the headed back to the hotel..

Avignon – 05/06/11

We got up and had brekky early.. and left about 9am for the drive to Avignon... We have just got here (4pm local time) and checked into the hotel... We are off out in an hour or so to have a look around and have a meal.. only one night here.. Next stop Nice and a night out in Monaco (including the Grande Casino).. sweet..


So we headed out last night to Avignon at about 5.30pm… Jon dropped us into town and we had a walk up to the palace of the popes… we took a load of pics and then looked for somewhere to eat.. a group of us sat at an outside restaurant.. Lee ordered Beef Tartare but they were out so he went for Lasagne instead.. Lucy went for Cod… Lee ordered a massive beer (see the pics below).. The coach picked us up and we headed back to the hotel for about 9pm (early one but it was a Sunday)..

Nice and Monaco – 06/06/11

This morning we left at 8.30am to head towards Nice… Vanessa played a James Bond film on the bus for us and we got into town at about 12pm.. we did a quick circuit on the coach.. The scenery here is amazing.. we went to a little village called Eze and did a tour of a perfume factory and then had a couple of hours to hang out, have lunch and have a look around. There were lots of little windy streets (see pics below).

We got to the hotel about 4pm and had an hour and half to freshen up before heading off on the coach to Monaco about 5.30pm.

We drove upto a nice spot and had a couple of group pictures (will get them up on the blog).. then we headed out for dinner.. by far the best we’ve had so far, nicoise salad followed by Beef Bourgignon.. after dinner we had a drive up part of the Monaco Grand Prix track and then we went to the Monte Carlo Casino (the one from Casino Royale).. drinks were mega expensive at 14 euros each…

All in all Monaco was a little disappointing. We have just got back to the hotel… free day in Nice tomorrow, think we are going to do Laundry and then hit the beach before we head off to Florence on Wednesday.
