Gday...
We're finally on the North Island.... we're in the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington and I always thought it was Auckland... so this trip is educational as well...
We left the cold of Kaikoura at 8.45am this morning so we had a bit of a lay in!!!! 3 hours later on the bus (including a coffee stop) and we were at the Picton Ferry Terminal to catch the ferry over to the North Island...
We had to wait an hour or so before boarding and then we were off.... This boat was huge... even had a cinema on board....
The trip to begin with was calm but then about 45 mins in it started to get very choppy!!!!! So we headed up to the top deck to get fresh air and lark about with the camera... see below... We even saw dolphins swimming in the ocean (who needs a tour!!!!!!!!).....
We got our bags off the ferry and caught a shuttle bus to the YHA we're staying at.... This place is massive for a hostel.... 6 floors, massive kitchens... it even has a READING AND MEETING ROOM ... OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only downside is we're near the lift but you can't have everything......!!!!!! Cooked a true cheapy backpacker meal tonight pasta with just pasta sauce!!!!
We've got the whole of tomorrow to explore Wellington and then we're off to Napier early on Friday for an overnight stop...

G'day guys. So you are in Wellington. It looks bright and sunny in the photos but cold. How lovely to see dolphins swimming in the natural sea. Did you get time to take in a movie?
