Abel Tasman National Park

hello

Wednesday 29th Feburary

We left Wellington at 8.25am on the Ferry to the south Island the ferry crossing was calm Lucy didnt get sea sick which was good we had some brekky on board had a wonder around the ship then ended up in the Bar yes i know it was only 10am in the morning but Lee and Jane fancied a beer. the ferry crossing took about 3 and a half hours and the Magic bus was at the other end to pick us up this bus was full no spare seats which compared to the north island was madness to us.

It took us around 3 hours to drive from Picton to Nelson our first over night stay in the south we are here for 2 nights we checked in and headed to the supermarket to buy food for tea for the next two nights. had Spag bol Lees fav thing to cook and a bottle of wine early night as we ahd a day trip to Abel Tasman National Park tomorrow...

Thursday 1st March

Had a lovely lay in this morning got up at 9am went down gor breakfast and some bastard had stolen our milk im not the happiest of person in the mornings Lee will tell you that so to find that someone had stolen our milk i was fuming had to have black coffee which to be fear tasted like coffee with milk shit !!! were sitting eating our toast when Lee thought ill just check in the other kitchen in that fridge and there was our milk !! glad we found it but still bastards!!!

Bus picked us up at 10.20am and headed to Abel Tasman took about an hour and a half to get there had a coffee before getting on the boat to see the seal colony and cruise around the bay, we saw some baby seals and mothers they were cute !!!

took an hour to cruise around the bay and we jumped off and had a walk thought the National Park for about an hour and a half not a great walk very boring really they told us it was a coastal walk but all I could see were trees i couldnt see the beach or the sea !!! anyway got to The meeting point on the beach and had lunch sitting in the sunshine was nice. the sea shuttle turned up and took us back to the bus it was windy and alittle bumpy on the boat back but ok....

Bus took us back to Nelson centre got there around 7pm quick shower and then tea Beef sauauges with Cheesey Mash was bloody lovely oh and of course a bottle of wine !!!

Off again tomorrow to Greymouth and we get to do a Brewery tour and pub meal looking forward to that we have done this brewery tour before in 2009 its the one where we get to pour our own !!!! yippee

National Park and Wellington

Hello everyone,

We are now in Wellington the capital of New Zealand. This is what we have been up-to the last couple of days...

Monday February 27

We left Taupo this morning at 7.30am (damn these early starts) and headed on our way.. Our first stop was for some coffee 2 minutes down the street which went down a right treat...

Then we were on the road for a couple of hours until we got to a small town called Waitomo which is famous for its caves and glow-worms... we went for a little walk around, chilled out and played some cards and went to a pizzeria for lumch which was ace..

In the giftshop we bought a keyring and Lee also found some very interesting shower gel.. see pics below!!! FILTHY!!!

Then we headed on for a bit and did a supermarket stop and Matt (our Magic Bus driver) bought some beers for us to drink on the bus.. top bloke!!! We then went into the National Park and stopped off at a couple of places, one of which was called "Whakapapa" but they pronounce the W as a F so it becomes "Fhakapapa".. all very amusing..

Tonight we are staying at a YHA with a climbing wall inside (I kid you not!!!) they we have to walk through to get to our room!!! Only here for 1 night and then off tomorrow to Wellington the capital of NZ... Should be fun..

We cooked for tea tonight, had potatoes, tuna, cheese and salad, was lovely!!!

Tuesday February 28

A lay in today yey!!! as we didn't have too leave until 8am.. We got up and had some brekky and then loaded out stuff onto the bus..

We stopped off after a couple of hours to grab coffee and some sandwiches for lunch as we had a longish drive today..

We finally got into Wellington about 2ish and went for a little tour of the city and to top of Mount Rupatehu which had some fantasic views of Wellington and then we checked into our YHA..

They have a curry night here tonight 9 NZ Dollars for a curry, rice and naan bargain so we have gone for that!!! So that is us done for the North Island for now, we get the ferry tomorrow morning at 8.25am over to the South Island...

We are coming back to Wellington in a couple of weeks for 2 nights so we will get more time then to have a look around..
