Fraser Island baby !!!!!!

Gday people before you start you might want to grab a cuppa get comfy and enjoy there any loads and loads of pics and even a few videos to watch of our trip to Fraser Island .....

So the alarm goes off at 6.30am this morning and we went to bed at 2am....By 7.20 we're tired but waiting outside Shelley Bay Resort (where we're staying) waiting for our 7.25 pickup...

We boarded the coach and headed down to the Harbour to catch the barge to Fraser Island... We had a full tour party (about 50)... the barge set sail at 8.30 and we were there by 9am... Unfortunately the weather was letting us down and it was pissing with rain... Fraser Island awis a massive sand island with beaches, lakes, rainforests and deserts growing on it.. go figure how that can happen but it can!!!

Off the barge we boarded our 4x4 coach first stop was Lake Mackenzie which is a freshwater lake.. it was beautiful... unfortunately we couldn't swim in it as it was raining but we got some good pics... (after we had gone back and bought a poncho...)...

Next up a tropical rainforest walk about 15 mins bus drive away (a very bumpy ride as we're driving on sand)... the walk was interesting and our tour guide (he didn't tell us his name so we'll call him Bruce!!!). We stopped for some lunch (an all you can eat buffet)...

After lunch we went cruising in the bus along 75 mile beach... Not only is it a beach, it's also a sand highway with cars going up down it and aeroplanes landing and taking off... If you think we're joking we're not... it was very weird hammering it up the beach very fast...

On the way up the beach we stopped off at Eli Creek, the Pinnacles (Lots of coloured sands) and the wreck of the cruise ship the Maheno.... There are pics below...

On the way back up the beach we stopped halfway as Lee was going on a Light Aircraft ride over Fraser Island.. It was only 15 mins... but it was an amazing experience and there is pics and a video below...

Aircraft ride over we headed back to the bus and caught the barge back to Hervey Bay...

We've had a fantastic day... Fraser Island is an amazing place... The only downside was the weather... (see the video below!!)... But you can't have everything!!!!
