Beard's on Tour: August 2011

Hello peeps,

So we are in Los Angeles and it’s the last day of our USA tour.. Tomorrow we fly back to the UK..

Yesterday morning (Tuesday) we were up and had our bags ready to be picked up at 7.30pm.. We went and had some brekky in the MGM Grand and then we left Vegas about 9am.. After a couple of hours driving we stopped at a little town called Calico.. an old Ghost Town.. it was kinda cool and bloody hot but we had a little look around for about 45 minutes..

Then we had a lunch stop for an hour or so and headed towards LA… we got here about 4pm and we are staying in the LA Marriot Downtown.. the hotel is quite nice.. we had a couple of hours to freshen up and then we headed out for a meal..

We went to Santa Monica Pier (where they filmed most of Baywatch).. On the coach on route they played some “Beach Boys” music.. Lee decided to piss about with the camera, see below!!! When we got there we had about 45 mins to look around the pier… We bought a keyring and Lee went in a Hurricane simulator!!!

About 8pm we went for dinner at Bubba Gumps.. The food was ace.. Lucy had ribs and Lee had coconut shrimp.. We got back to the hotel about 11pm..

Another late start this morning (not!!!) we were on the coach for 7.30am to go on a city tour.. After driving for a bit downtown we stopped at the Farmers market for some brekky… after that we went on a drive around Sunset Boulevard, Rodeo Drive and then we get dropped off at Hollywood Boulevard.. We had a walk around, bought some souvenirs and took some pictures of the Hollywood stars..

Then we went on a tour of the Kodak Theatre which is where they hold the Oscars every year.. Basically it’s in the middle of a shopping mall, they don’t tell you that at the ceremony and we got to see a real Oscar statue close up…. After that we dropped some of the group at Universal Studios and came back to the hotel… The tour driver and director left the hotel this afternoon… Some of us are meeting in the hotel bar tonight for a farewell drink…

So that’s USA done.. we fly tomorrow lunchtime at 1pm to Michigan and then catch a connecting flight to London, Heathrow… Will be nice to get some to a decent cup of char!!!

Hello peeps,

Hope everyone is well. Given we have good internet here and lots of pics and vids to post we are posting one a day at the mo so if you haven’t been on for a few days please scroll through the last few posts!!

So it was raining when we got here yesterday but that soon passed. We went out last night about 7pm to get some tea (had a chinese) and then we went to the Bellagio hotel to watch the fountain show which happens every 15 mins.. It was beautiful and we took some pics and vids below.. After that we went and had a look around the Bellagio hotel and then called it a night as we were both shattered!!

After a good night’s sleep we got up, had some brekky grabbed some souvenirs and then phoned home on Skype…

Then we went to do the “CSI Experience” at the MGM Grand.. Basically you pick a case and then go through a series of interactive stations to try and solve the crime.. It was different and pretty cool.. Fair to say we won’t be changing careers anytime soon though…

After we had some lunch we went and looked at a few hotels including Paris and Caesars Palace… We played the slots in a few.. It’s bloody hot today (105) so about 4pm we came back to the hotel to chill out for a bit..

Tonight we have been to , the Hard Rock Café for tea and then we went to see David Copperfield at the MGM.. it was very good. Off tomorrow for our last stop in USA, Los Angeles…. Should be fun..
