New York Day 3

Day 3 and our last day in New York......

Day didn't start too greatly... we had a bill shoved under our door.. we'd been charged for some stuff from the mini bar which we didn't even have!!!! (something to do with the sensors on it... mmmmmm!!!!)...

The good news is we managed to catch the tour bus today (cos we got there an hour and a half early!!!!)... of course it helps when you were standing on the right corner (Lucy was on map reading duty today!!!)..... and hopefully for the rest of our trip, otherwise we may spend a year in Hong Kong if I get the job....

One coffee and bagel crammed with Cream Cheese later!!!!! (it's bloody nice you gotta try it!!).. we were ready to get on board the NEW YORK PARTY SHUTTLE BUS... WOOP WOOP!!!!!!!

Tour guide was called Joel and a native New Yorker.... First stop Strawberry Fields in Central Park... (that BIG 843 ACRE Park Lee couldn't recognise yesterday!!! I think he needs a trip to Specsavers before we go!!!).... named in remembrance of John Lennon... We also stood outside the Dakoda (not sure on the correct spelling) where Lennon was murdered.....

Off on a tour through the streets of Manhattan on the bus.. Joel couldn't stop talking... and was full of facts... for all we know he could have been talking a load of shite!!! I mean do you know there are 180 Starbucks in Manhattan!!! (and I though we had loads in Norwich)..

Next stop the Rockafella centre.. not much interesting to say about it.. BUT IT WAS BIG!!!

Then onto the Seaport for a bit to eat (via a drive through Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy & China Town)...

Next stop the Statten Island Ferry... got some cool pictures from the outside deck.. particularly of the statue of Liberty....

We stopped briefly by Wall Street.. & then onto Ground Zero (World Trade Centre old site!!).. Didn't really know what to expect here but was kinda disappointed.. it's just a construction site but took some pictures nonetheless......

We finished up the tour at 3.30pm local time... With 4 hours to kill until the journey to JFK what to do.... TGI Friday for a drink.... For those of you reading this that were on Lee's stag do in Dublin... TGI's drink prices made the whole of Dublin look like one great big Wetherspoon's!!!!

We're now sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for our shuttle bus to JFK!!!!

Overall we have really enjoyed New York... there's loads to do and see but I wouldn't say we're in a hurry to come back.... Still it was nice to see some snow and the temperatures here at the mo make Norwich seem warm...

We've learnt that some of the natives are a bit bold but others have been really nice and helpful..

One final thought!!!

HOW YOU DOING!!!!!!!

The Beard's Are Home

We're back safe and sound from New York... The flight was nice and smooth... It's Lucy's birthday today 21 again.. it's 9pm, we're both knackered.. work tomorrow!!!!! Still only 4 weeks until we head off to Hong Kong so it's all good...

New York Day 2 Part 3

It's the prat without the hat with a lovely dose of hat hair!!!! hehehehehehehehehe!!!!

Think it's fair to say that Lucy looks much better in the hat that I do!!!!

This is a KODAK moment for me... the first time I've ever seen my wife iron!!! and it's ironing bloody socks in a hotel room in New York!!!

We headed off too Madison Square Garden tonight to watch some tennis!! It was the Billie Jean King and the Williams sisters and a couple of other players were competing!!! The venue is amazing and it was great to be there!!!

Before the final match they had a tribute to Billie Jean King on the court!!! The special guest was Bill Clinton which was kinda cool... The pictures above are crap but it's him trust us!!!

The start of the final.. Serena Williams V Venus Williams

New York Day 2 Part 2

Only 3 hours since the last post (this blogging thing is really addictive!!!)

Not knowing where we should go we thought we'd head for a walk towards central park..

As we got closer Lucy says to me "we're near Central Park", I say "How do you know" to which Lucy replies "cos there a great big F*****NG park in front of you!!!!" Stupid questions deserve stupid answers!!!

We found a shopping centre and wandered in!!! Found a new mate in there (see pic of the buddha)!! Personally I think the buddha is way out of proportion...

Wandered around borders... Tip to all you shopaholics out there.. whilst in book shops look out for footstools.. I tripped over one... Thought that Lucy was going to wet hereself as she couldn't stop laughing so much!!!!

There's a great big TOYS R US... right near our hotel.. we had a look round.. there is a ride inside the store (see pic).... How cool is that.. The yanks definitely do things big!!!

That's it for now.. we're off Madison Square Garden tonight...

New York Day 2

Woke up this morning to loads of snow!!! We had a major snowstorm last night!!! Absolutely freezing.. took some pics as we were walking around..

Amazing how life doesn't stop here just because of some snow.. they just pile it up on the side of the road and get on with it.... we could certainly learn soomething

We headed on down to Madison Square Garden to pick up some tickets as we're going to watch some tennis tonight...

Decided I better invest in a hat when I could no longer feel my ears any more... We then headed on to pick up our shuttle bus as we were heading on a tour today of all the major sites... SSSOOOOO EXCITING!!!!

10am came and went... thought we better ask someone.. turns out we were standing on the corner of the wrong street... had that heart sinking thing...

1 phone call and annoying bloke trying to sell us another bus tour (even following us whilst we're on the phone.. a "look mate if we want you we'll come and find you finally got him to piss off.. though Lucy threatening to shove his tour bus up his arse if he didn't go away might have also had something to do with it!!!... hehehehehehehhe!!!)

Well that's it for now.. it's only 12pm off out to do some shopping....

PS - Show last night was great.. there is a pic inside the theatre at the top

New York Day 1

We woke up this morning 7am local time, still thinking we were on UK time (ready for lunch)..

We headed out to Brekky.. wound up going for an all you can eat buffet at the Hard Rock Cafe... Scrambled eggs with cheese.. was different...

Took a walk up and down Times Square getting familiar with our surroundings...

Spent a while trying to find a pub to catch the Man Utd game.. started at 10am NYC Time... had no enjoy at all (Lucy kindly reminded me we hadn't come all the way to New York to watch a game of football!!!.. thought it was best to agree)!!!!

Headed briefly back to the hotel.. so Lucy could layer up (all her jumpers plus a couple of mine!!).. Suddenly remembered we had tickets for the Empire State building so decided to do that...

Just about to enter the building when we got offered the chance to upgrade to the New York Sky Ride!!! oooooohhhhhhh and for the pleasure of only an extra 18 bucks each...

The skyride was actually pretty cool!!! like a simulator.. Not sure Lucy enjoyed it that much (something about how tightly she was squeezing my hand gave it away)...

Skyride over we headed up to the 86th floor and the observatory... Eeefffiinnnn freezing would be the best description!!! oh yeah and the views weren't that bad either!!! Not sure any of my pictures really did it justice though (we're new to this blog thing!!!))

Empire State building over, we had a walk back to Times Square to take some more piccies and found a shop devoted to all things M&M's.. random.. only in America hey!!!

Headed back to the hotel and found an Irish Pub opposite that showed the football!!! (just goes to show my sense of direction really is that piss poor!!)

Found out Man U had beaten Tottenham.. come on!!!!

We're off to a Broadway Show tonight... Mary Poppins....

Until tomorrow!!!!
